What is BIOTECHNOLOGY?
Biotechnology refers to all the practical uses of living organisms, including the use of living organisms or their products to modify human health and the human environment. This included activities humans have been using for thousands of years, as in the use of yeast cells to raise bread dough and to ferment alcoholic beverages, and bacterial cells to make cheeses and yogurts.
Biotechnology is one of the fastest-growing sectors of all science careers. Like many other science careers biotechnology has suffered from a lack of diversity in its workforce. Virginia State University offers a variety of programs, courses, and workshops to train our students for future careersin biotech.
